St. Petersburg Port
and Passenger Terminals
The Port of St. Petersburg has one river and several
sea terminals catering to passenger ships arriving from all
over the world. Regular ferry boats connecting St.
Petersburg with Scandinavia and Western Europe arrive at
the Passenger Sea Terminal. The majority of cruise
ships dock at various locations around the city
depending on the ship's tonnage. Below are locations of
each sea terminal and embankment where passenger ships dock
in St. Petersburg and instructions on getting to the city
center by public transportation.

Unless you have a mobile phone, you
will find it difficult to order a taxi by phone and
local taxis are very difficult to get in this part of
the city. Your best bet for getting downtown is
either by metro where you can easily walk from the
pier or having prior arrangements with your local
tour company. |
St. Petersburg Sea Trade Port: Morskoy
Torgovy Port
 |
Address:
5, Mezhevoi Kanal Emb.
Closest metro: n/a. |
Used mainly for cargo ships and tankers, the St.
Petersburg Trade Port also caters to a number of larger sea cruise ships which are too big to
navigate the Neva River into the
city.
The port's remote
location and rather unpleasant ambiance of the
docks full of cargo containers separating the pier
and the port's front gates (distance of about 1.5
miles) make the task of getting to the city center on
one's own very difficult. Unless your cruise line
offers shuttle bus service, you need to arrange
transportation to the city before you arrive in St.
Petersburg.
Also
bear in mind that the territory of the Trade Port is
a restricted-access area and only authorized
vehicles with valid port passes are allowed inside.
So, if you plan to stay in the city on your own, make
sure your local tour operator makes arrangements for
getting you back to the ship in the evening, as taxis will not be permitted to enter the port
and you may have to walk through the docks late at
night.
Ships
that dock in the Trade Port are the Norwegian
Dream, Celebrity Constellation, Marco
Polo, Grand Princess, Prinsendam, Noordam, Westerdam, Century,
etc. |
English Embankment Pier: Angliyskaya
Naberezhnaya
 |
Address: English Embankment Pier (by the Lt. Schmidt
Bridge)
Closest metro: Nevsky Prospect. |
This is the most prestigious and
centrally-located passenger terminal situated only 2 km away from the
Hermitage.
The
terminal is equipped with four customs and passport
control check-points, an exchange bureau and a public
BCL phone. Cruise ships are guarded round-the-clock
by the immigration service. While some tourists may
prefer walking to the Hermitage and the Palace Square
along the English and Admiralty embankments, it is
also possible to take a bus from the Manezhnaya
Square located within 5 min walk away from the
pier.
Ships that dock at the
English Embankment terminal are Silver
Whisper, Radisson Navigator, Regatta
Oceania, and other smaller-tonnage
ships. |
Lt. Schmidt Embankment Pier: Naberezhnaya
Leitenanta Shmidta
 |
Address: Lt. Schmidt Embankment Pier.
Closest metro: Vasileostrovskaya. |
Located some 5 km away from the Hermitage, Lt.
Schmidt Embankment terminal consists of 7 pontoons 36
meters each. The terminal is equipped with a customs
and passport control check-point, a public phone, and
there is a small cafe right on the embankment. There
are no public transportation stops anywhere in
the vicinity of the pier, so your best bet is taking
a taxi or making special transport arrangements prior
to arrival in St. Petersburg.
Ships that dock at the
Lt. Schmidt Terminal are Song of Flower, Kristina, Deutschland, and other
smaller ships. |
